15/08/2008 - The Satterley Property Group & City of Wanneroo Award

Mania National wins the Satterley Property Group and City of Wanneroo 2006 Business Award for the most innovative Business in the development of the Firecat Domestic Fircat Sprinkler System.

Firecat Australia Pty Ltd is the first company nationally to market an affordable residential fire sprinkler system that directly suppresses the fire.

The unique Firecat sprinkler system is connected to a dedicated water supply (loop system) from the water main housed in the roof space, and features a series of sprinklers that are recessed and flush-mounted to the ceiling, each with a heat sensitive element.

The heat sensitive element bursts when the temperature of a fire rises above 58 degrees, which means only the sprinkler nearest to or directly above the fire is activated. This sprinkler then releases between 50 and 100 litres of water per minute, sufficient to quickly and effectively suppress a fire.

The uniqueness of this process protects other rooms and their contents from potential fire or water damage, limits the production of gas asphyxiates that develop in the early stages of a fire and ensures that residents have ample time to leave the property safely. Smoke inhalation, as the result of exposure to gas asphyxiates, is a major contributor to deaths caused by residential fires.

The Firecat sprinkler system exceeds the Australian AS 2118.5 Domestic Residential Sprinkler Code and is the result of six years of research and development at Mania National, a leading manufacturer of plumbing products. Research included analysis of the 2003 Branz Report, which assessed the effectiveness of residential fire sprinkler systems in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. The Scottsdale case study showed that since residential fire sprinkler systems became mandatory in 1991 there have been no recorded fire related fatalities in homes with sprinklers.

The end result with Firecat is the delivery of a superior residential fire sprinkler system that is not only environmentally friendly and effective in areas  where  water pressure is at least 400 kpa, but merges the latest technology, with existing fire safety devices such as smoke alarms.

“As a company we are committed to fire safety and to developing affordable fire suppression systems that protect people’s lives, their homes and valuables."

“The Firecat sprinkler system affirms our commitment and we are confident given its pricing, proven effectiveness and range of features it will have wide appeal to home owners plus proprietors of both aged and child care facilities”.

The Firecat sprinkler system is quick and easy to install, taking eight to fifteen hours in a new property and approximately four hours for a retro-fit.  The system comes with full training.

The fire station contains fire safety fact sheets and fire safety products, such as fire blankets. The fire station is positioned in the home at an accessible and central location.

Firecat sprinkler systems in Western Australia  are available exclusively through Firecat sprinkler systems WA licenced or accredited plumbers.
