HISTORY OF FIRECAT
Mania National, having been involved in the plumbing industry for over 25 years and more recently in the manufacturing of brass fittings for PVC pipe used in hot and cold water supply, saw a need for cost effective home fire sprinkler systems using traditional plumbing methods as opposed to highly technical commerical fire services.
Using:
- The Branz Report,
- Trends in America,
- Trends in New Zealand, and
- Trends in Europe,
Mania National formed Firecat and over the past 5 years has developed a purpose made home fire sprinkler system which:
- Addresses all the shortcommings of the Branz Report, and
- Exceeds current draft Australian Standards Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems Part 5: Home Fire Sprinkler Systems (Revision of AS2118.5-1995).
Firecat has taken a unique approach to the introduction of the home fire sprinkler system.
We believe that whilst the system will save lives and property, it has a far bigger benefit for the building industry in solving such problems such as:
- Using alternate building materials, (cut the cost of housing),
- Allow increase density for single family communities, (help stop the urban sprawl),
- Use recycled water or ground water for fire protection,
- Help satisfy some of the BCA requirements in a more cost effective way, and
- Cost reduction in services.
